August 8th Sunday: Stonham Barns Classic Car & Wheels Show – Report by Peter
Just a brief report on this local show which I attended, thinking I would be on my own, only to discover 3 other club members cars. It was good to meet up and have a chat about the cars, the show and the weather!
The show was extremely well attended with late arrivals having great difficulty in getting into the show ground.
A number of car clubs were grouped together, displaying their club banners, whilst the majority of attendees were private entrants, who parked up in order of arrival.
There was a wide range of car marques on show as well as cars of all ages, although I suspect that the Lotus Elise fitted under the banner of ‘wheels’ rather than a ‘classic car’, albeit one for the future.
A central arena was used to parade a range of car and trucks whilst around this area were a number of stalls, refreshments and the now obligatory ‘hog roast’!
So, a pleasant day out where even the sun made a very brief appearance.

Bank Holiday Monday August 31st: Lavenham Rare Breeds Motor Show - Report by Peter
August Bank Holiday Monday means it’s the Lavenham Rare Breeds Motor Show for 2010. This year marks the 14th year that the show has taken place and it proved so popular that a number of entries from car clubs and individuals were refused. Luckily Ian organised the Abbott & Stour entry in good time and we all got in with no problems.

A number of club members met up at The Manger to drive together to Lavenham; once there our other entrants joined us. The show was well attended by our club members, with 12 TR’s and Peter’s Peerless on our club stand display – as you can see from the pictures, we were one of the first clubs to arrive and set up our banner.

It is a very popular show which really gets going with the arrival of the Lavenham Carnival. This was the last year that the show will be run in conjunction with the Carnival, however it is intended that next year’s show will again run on the Bank Holiday Monday and have more space available for cars. The number of car entries varied from turn of the century steam cars, British cars from nearly every decade throughout the 20th century as well as American ‘finned’ cars and modern sports cars.

There were a number of side shows, stalls, and tea, coffee and burger vans. The central arena hosted, amongst other items, a display of classic cars and the Flying Fergies – a tractor display team which was something to behold!

The weather held out for us and everybody had an excellent day out; whilst we are looking to reduce the number of car show attended, this one has always proved to be popular with club members, so will wait to see whether it makes next year’s events list.
