2010 - March Highlights

March 28th Sunday - News from the Group Leaders Meeting
Peter and Ian attended a Group Leaders Meeting last month and have produced notes.  These make very interesting reading - please click on the link Group Meeting Notes

March 9th Tuesday - Club Meeting
2010 promises to be a year of change for our club. Irene, our group leader for several years now has decided to step down. Many thanks Irene for all you’ve done for the club, it is really appreciated. Membership has increased in Irene’s capable hands and it is a friendly and sociable group who meet up every month. Club member Peter Dadson is the brave (or foolhardy) man who has offered to take up the reins as our new group leader and a few of us have been press-ganged (in the nicest possible way) onto a small committee to help him with running the club. We hope that membership will continue to grow and with this in mind we’d like to welcome the following new members and hope they’ll enjoy the club as much as we do: Trevor Smith and David Andrew from Bury St Edmunds, Geoff Broad from Sudbury and Mike Garnham and Justin Mayhew, both from Ipswich. At last month’s meeting we also welcomed John & Pam Riley, who are the proud new owners of an immaculate TR6. We hope that all of you will be able to join us on our club outings and at local shows.

Our list of events for this year is already well under way with our usual much enjoyed shows and runs plus we’re hoping to add a couple of new outings if club members are interested. The Club meeting on March 9th was very well attended and members had the opportunity to put their views about what they expected from the Group by filling in a survey.  If you were unable to attend and would like to have your say please save the survey, complete it, and email your reply to Ian Hewlett i.hewlett@sky.com by March 29th. Ian is collating the responses and will present the results at the next meeting April 13th.

On March 25th at 8pm we meet at our usual watering hole, The Manger at Bradfield Combust, for the Pudding Club, which is a super evening, even if we do go home feeling that a diet is on the cards for the next couple of weeks. The sight and taste of all those delicious puds can make even the strongest resolve not to overindulge vanish at the first mouthful. Please email Peter Dadson abbott.n.stour@live.co.uk  if you would like to attend. Our first run of the year is, as usual, the April Showers run on 18th April, which is once again being organised by Bob Bell, who always treats us to a superb run in the Suffolk countryside ending at a good pub for lunch. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to it and to getting our cars out on the road again after the appalling winter weather. If you would like lunch let Bob know 01284 768127 otherwise we are meeting at Tesco's car park Bury St Edmunds at 10.30.

So for those of you who live in the Abbott & Stour area and have a TR or are thinking of buying one and would like to chat to TR owners, a warm welcome awaits you at our club nights, which are the 2nd Tuesday of each month at The Manger. Our 2010 events list is shown on our website and, again, we’d be delighted to see new faces at any of our events.Irene wishes to send her thanks to everyone in the Group for their support during her time as Group Leader.  Irene was overwhelmed by the "thank you" flowers sent to her and is looking forward to seeing everybody at future events.
