Drive It Day

We met at 10.15 on a very misty and damp morning at the Haughley Lorry Park. There were 9 cars and we set off on the short drive to our first stop. This was at the Granary Crafts, Brook Farm, Buxhall near Stowmarket. Opened in 1994 this Museum houses a collection of farm bygones, household items, agricultural implements, and motor vehicles. Many of us were amused and delighted to see items from our own childhood such as toys, radios, and kitchen equipment. The motor vehicles included a Triumph Mayflower, a mini, an Austin A35, and several tractors. We warmed up in the tearoom with coffee and homemade cake before setting off again.
The weather had not improved but we drove through some beautiful countryside and villages such as Kersey (through a ford), Monks Eleigh, and Lavenham. Our next stop was the Bridge Farm Barns (formally Corncraft) which is a collection of unique shops and a tearoom. We had a wander round and spent some money before setting off again.
It was a short drive to our destination our old favourite The Manger Pub at Bradfield Combust for lunch. The sun came out so we were able drive home in lovely sunshine feeling we had enjoyed a very pleasant day.
