Hello,
Stop press: June Mid-month lunch moved from 15th to 22nd June.
Last week was quite busy for some of our members. On the Tuesday (10th June) some 17 people took part in our regular Curborough Sprint afternoon. The weather stayed bright and warm and (so far as I know) no one overdid it and damaged their car.
The following day saw our annual Concours d'Elegance held during our normal monthly meeting. I didn't count them but I'm reliably informed that 35 cars were present. We'd arranged for the local Scouts to run a barbecue but inevitably the weather had taken a turn for the worse compared with the previous few days. At least the rain held off until the proceedings were almost complete. Quite a few faces from the past were to be seen including John and Mary Langford, Bob Croxford (in his Porsche 911), Wendy Swann and Stella Beaton. Andy and Lorraine Petersen also found time in their busy schedules to drop in. Photographs of the scene, entrants and the winners can be found in the Gallery.
This coming Sunday, 22nd June, sees our next mid-month lunch (postponed from 15th June), organised by Andy Petersen, at the Cross Keys, Ombersley. We aim to meet at the pub at about 12:30pm.
April saw a few events taking place. Among them was a well-attended mid-month lunch at the Fleur de Lys and a skittles match hosted by Cotswold Vale Group at the Bluebell Inn, Ryall. Sadly for Birmingham, CV showed us a clean pair of heels winning all three rounds. Look at the Gallery on this site for some pictures. We will be organising a return match on home territory to win the trophy back. We had another mid-month lunch in May at the Bell, Pensax. A very hot day saw some of our Birmingham members joined by Bill and Steph Piggott.
Looking further ahead, the major TR event in July will, as usual, be the International Weekend, at Malvern and a couple of weeks later, Sunday August 3rd sees the Midlands Inter-Group Meeting at the Fleece Inn, Bretforton.
Click on Future Events, on this site, for details of what's planned throughout the year. There is still room for more events to be added, particularly mid-month lunches, so if you would like to organise something, get in touch with our Group Leader, Dave Newbery.
Cheers,
Dave Gibson
