TR Action 254

In September, Clyde Valley was pleased to welcome the TR Register club stand to their usual presence at Scone Palace near Perth. It looked so good that we walked away with the third prize rosette for the best club stand - thanks, everyone involved!
TR Action 251

This year Clyde Valley based themselves at Lilliardsedge Holiday Park, just outside Ancrum in beautiful Border countryside, with a great show of 1 TR4A, 7 TR6s, 1 TR8 and a GT6 (plus a Ford Focus belonging to Robert and me because our TR4A had reported sick). Lynn and Eric had planned the Saturday run and entertainment at Paxton House in Berwickshire so they led us off in their (very shiny) GT6. After a guided tour of Paxton House and lunch, at which some of us partook of the local dish, pan haggerty, there was a chance to use the 9 hole putting green. Of course, this turned into something competitive with the top 5 scorers in the first round playing again, won by Robert with a round of 18. After dinner Steve produced a quiz his wife Muriel had prepared. It was a difficult one and a veil should be drawn over the results... no wonder she chose to go to Ireland instead!
Sunday took us on another Lynn and Eric run which led us to Heatherslaw Mill on the Ford & Etal estate. The rain came down, testing one TR4A's windscreen wipers to breaking point but all mended and we were quickly on our way again. Another local speciality, Border tart (yes, really!), was tasted at the Heatherslaw tea room. We had a trip in a narrow gauge steam train all the way to Etal where the engine turned on a little turntable and ran back to the front of the carriages to pull the train back. At Etal there was plenty to see - a castle, a very old harbour on the river and finally lunch at a thatched pub... All brilliantly organised as usual - many thanks to Steve.
Planned shows in Scotland in the near future include the Extravaganza at Glamis Castle 9-10 July and Biggar Show and Rally 14 August. Hope to see as many of you as can make it at one of these!”
Isabel adds that Clyde Valley had a busy June, including Steve and Muriel Craig winning 2nd overall with the Bob Flockhart Tankard at the SWVTC annual rally at Milngavie, Glasgow. This is a regularity run over 25 miles approx in the morning and an observation quiz run in the afternoon over a different 20 mile course. Congratulations to them both.
Details of the Clyde Valley trip to Holland in June, with lots of pictures, are on the Clyde Valley group website.
TR Action 249
Clyde Valley has been thinking about the summer events for the last six weeks or so and now most plans are finalised. Most of you will have received Steve Craig’s email with the list of events planned for summer 2011. If not, they are all under Future Events on the Club website and a version of the form you need to complete and return to Steve is under 'Read more' in the March listing.
If you are still looking at the old website which is listed in TR Action 248 under We’re Only Here for the Beer in TR Action, I am sorry, we are no longer updating that one. You need to see us at: http://www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/clyde-valley. Please bookmark it for future reference.
