TR Action 255

Another Christmas over and how many of your New Year’s resolutions have you broken already?

Please note there is no evening meeting in January as our first one is on the first Tuesday of February (7th) and  on the first Tuesday of the month thereafter. We will continue to meet at The Hawkins Arms Zelah from 8.00pm onwards. From April through till September we will have our evening road runs and move about the county ending up at various locations.

I am pleased to say that many suggested routes and destinations have been received including some garden centres - do not worry, they are licensed! As ever full details of these events and others will be sent to you at the end of February.

I can give you advance warning of another spectacular slide show from Julian who has continued to sort out his massive archive of TR photos. This will be at the March meeting and will start promptly at 8.00pm.

After further discussion at the very well attended November meeting we are pressing ahead with a trip to Brittany sometime in the spring with an overnight stay in France. I hope to get more firmed up details sorted by the end of February.

Finally some good news for TR6 and TR7/8 owners who have not been able to enter the WESES Rally at Stithians Showground due to the 1972 cut off date. At the December committee meeting that I attend the date has been moved to 1980 and I am assured that TRs built up to 1982 will be allowed entry. So perhaps this year it will not only be Frank Batchelor in attendance – see photo from 2010 rally when TR Register were present.

Another year nearly over and we are all hoping for that TR themed Christmas present!
The evening road runs have proved by far the most popular activity and this year we were blessed with good weather for all of them. In order to extend the period we can enjoy them in daylight, Tuesday evening meetings will from February be the first Tuesday of the month at the Hawkins Arms at Zelah. There will therefore be no evening meetings in December or January.

I am thus preparing to have six evening road runs from April through till September 2012. Any suggestions for routes and venues would be very welcome by the end of February.

I hope that we can attend more joint car club events next year but as always if any group member wants to organise an event or has a suggestion please let me know.

It only remains for me to wish you and your families a happy Christmas and healthy New Year.

TR Action 253

The dark evenings will be with us when you read this report and we will have returned to the Hawkins Arms at Zelah which I hope will prove popular with members. A great turnout for the Truro visit with nineteen cars covering the whole range. The attached picture is courtesy of Julian Stephens. It would have been twenty but I was on the way to The Dorset Steam Fair for five days of steam heaven - my other passion! No TRs in the car section but there was a Bristol 403 with a Triumph 2000 engine and a Standard Vanguard. However there were masses of TR tractors - Fergie T20s everywhere.

The Healey club has kindly invited us to join them at Prideaux Place back in September which I hope many of you attended - it is always a good venue; report next time.

I am proposing that for our last meeting of the year in November we have a Christmas meal at The Hawkins Arms which does excellent food and good beer. Partners are very welcome but please confirm you are attending to me by 16th October.

There has been a lot of interest in a weekend French trip in the spring which we can discuss at our evening meetings.
