TR Action 231

Despite the poor weather our October pub gathering was well attended with fellow TR member Alan from Skegness joining us - but not in his TR6.
As I write this report Lewis Hamilton has just become F1 Champion - a great last race and great for Britain. This has further encouraged me to try for a visit to a race meeting next year with our group so watch for details in our events calendar which will be available from mid January next year. I have had a number of suggestions for different pub venues next year for our evening road runs which will run from May until August. One change will be that each road run will have a starting point at the Shell Garage at Chiverton Roundabout on the A30 at 7.30pm and a second meeting point at 8.00pm (on route to pub) arriving at designated pub at 8.30pm.
The Christmas event will have been and gone and a film showing a single traction engine hauling a train up a hill at Dorset Steam Fair (see photo) hopefully proved interesting.
No meeting in December as is our tradition, so see you all in January - have a great Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.
TR Action 230

Our return to The Hawkins Arms at Zelah in August was a great success with some new faces turning up and a dry evening made it special for this awful summer! I have had no suggestions for pub venues for next summer so please contact me on: trcornwall1@btinternet.com with some inspired choices so that I can include them in next year’s events diary.
The last official event of our year is the Skinners Brewery Christmas film show/brewery tour on Saturday 29th November - some keen members have already reserved their places! The price will be £16 with food or £10 without; soft drinks, tea and coffee are available at no extra cost and you can bring your own drink if you have your own tastes i.e. goats milk etc. Please can I have confirmation of attendance by end of October.
Thinking ahead to next year’s International, I have purchased a trailer tent for the TR which will also act as the Cornwall base; like my car it needs a little tlc before next summer. On that theme Julian "no TR visits Cornwall without me knowing" captured the picture of this interesting TR/caravan combination - whose car is this?
I had to miss the September meeting due to work commitments but see you all at the October meeting.
TR Action 229

I first have to report the very sad news that John Williams lost his fight with cancer and passed away a few days after I submitted my last report. His funeral service in Hayle showed how he was respected with the chapel overflowing with people wishing to show their last respects. John will be sadly missed as he was one of the regulars at our monthly pub meetings.
We have had two successful evening runs to Par and Edmonton and the consensus is to try some new pubs next year - any suggestions?
Unfortunately on the run to The Quarryman Tim Parr’s TR5 decided to play up and he along with other members had to wait till 10.00pm for the AA and never got to the pub where we had the pleasure of ex-Wham member Andrew Ridgley’s presence. Thanks to Julian, Gordon and Pete for not abandoning Tim - showing what TR members are all about.
I had a holiday in Dorset back in July and unlike Cornwall the sun shone all the time. Whilst staying in my hometown of Salisbury I noticed that Gurston Hill Climb was on so I dragged my family there. I was last there in 1983 and it still has its great atmosphere and as a bonus it was a round of the Revington TR/TR Register Hill climb championship (see photo). We could have a visit next year as a weekend event?
Finally as from August our monthly meetings return to The Hawkins Arms at Zelah from 8.30pm.
