TR Action 241

Hope you all survived the snow. Any pictures of TRs in Cornish snow would be welcomed. I spotted a TR6 in the snow but did not recognise the car – was it you?
Apologies for missing the last two deadlines for the magazine report but time seems to be against me. I am busy finalising the events for 2010 but several members are keen to visit the Goodwood Revival in September. I went to the first Revival meeting which was awesome and friends tell me it gets better every year. If you are interested please let me know by the end of March as accommodation needs to be sorted well in advance.
The TR Register is doing some national promotion this year and I hope they will be present at the relocated St Agnes Steam Rally at Stithians Show Ground this August. I hope to encourage many TRs to attend.
If you have any ideas for events this year it is still not too late to contact me and I can add it to the event calendar.
Hopefully I will see some new and old faces at our new venue at The New Inn in Goonhavern and you will join us on our evening road runs from May till September. Please check the group website for details or contact me direct if you still find the internet too much hassle. Details in We're Only Here For The Beer.
TR Action 240
Good to see so many of you at our temporary venue at the Penhale Round, Fraddon for Julian’s excellent selection of 40 years of TR activities. The selection of photos was amazing and some much younger Cornish TR Register owners were spotted and yes, Julian did have hair, wore flares and owned several TRs in his youth! Thank you for the great support for this event and good to see some old and new faces and of course thank you Julian.
Whilst this venue sufficed for the photo show it does not have much of a pub atmosphere and after much discussion with those present, as from January we will be meeting at The New Inn at Goonhavern located on the Newquay road some five miles from Perranporth. Our evening road runs to different pubs will start in May and run through till September - full details of events for next year will appear on group website towards the end of January.
Have a happy and healthy new year and let’s hope for a sunny summer!
TR Action 238

Unfortunately for our Penzance road run whilst I was enjoying glorious sunshine in Bordeaux the Cornish “summer” continued and the rain caused its cancellation and a normal Hawkins Arms meeting took place. Well done for those that made it and hopefully nobody was Billy-no-mates in Penzance.
The final evening road run was dry and we had a good drive up the A30 - although certain members were not aware of legal speed limits. Julian as ever captured the evening with some great photos on the group gallery.
Graham (Devon Group Leader) and friends were there to greet us at The Half Way House but had come a long way round as the A38 was closed just the Plymouth side of the pub entrance. The picture depicts one of our members who claimed we did have sun in Cornwall this summer due to his tanned feet - the first person to guess who it is and tells me at the September meeting at The Hawkins Arms gets a free pint.
A further reminder that at the October meeting Julian will be presenting his latest sideshow of all things Cornish TR with some slides never seen before. For those Cornish members who we do not see that often please come along and enjoy the evening.
I have just returned from my annual pilgrimage to The Dorset Steam Fair - still no TRs in the car section - what are the Dorset members doing about this?
If you thought your TR6 uses a lot of fuel spare a thought for the only petrol powered tractor in the tractor pulling competition at Dorset, which is V8 powered, sounds fantastic at full revs and working hard but uses five gallons in a 100 yard pull; yes, that is 88 gallons to the mile.
