Seven Cotswold Vale TRs and a Volvo estate assembled at Tesco in Stow-on-the-Wold for the short run to the beautiful Cotswold village of Churchill to take part in their Vintage and Classic Car Show.

Andy’s blue rope was not needed as the organisers had provided a pre-marked wavy line to park up to anyway!

Phil and Sandy were a bit late, having blown a tyre on their TR5 a mile from home. It was torn round a lot of the sidewall – good job it wasn’t on the front. New tyres all round, Phil!! Fortunately no damage to the car. Running intermittently on 5 cylinders on arrival (TR5!!?), but Colin produced a spare injector – job done.

This is one of the best shows we attend with around 450 cars from all vintage and classic eras on display, some immaculate, some not! Also a very interesting selection of tractors and mobile and stationary steam engines. And of course the autojumble stalls. No bee swarm this year though!

All the usual sideshows and stalls, a band and bagpipe recital over the lunch period, was probably commissioned by the local pub, which got very busy! Burgers, hot dogs and cakes but NO CUSTARD, so Colin had to compensate with several helpings of chocolate cake – note photographic evidence shown in Yank Tank reflective headlight cowls!

Too many cars to comment on individually –

Green TR3A – potential for a new member of CVTRG?

Two Swallow Dorettis

and only one GT6

Note the coach lining all over the 1934 RR Phantom Two – even the wheels.

And who would say no to the Alvis TD drophead gentleman’s carriage.

Both beautifully detailed, but compare the complexity of the engines in the 1928 fabric bodied Austin Seven with that of the 1934 Invicta Tourer.

The Morgan display included a1924 car. The owner said he is going to use it unrestored as it is, but note the modern bonnet buffer!

And, Austin Sevens are not the best choice for some people…
