In Memorium
Dave Brooks passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on the 2nd July after suffering a massive blood haemorage followed by a heart attack he was 55yrs old. He will be remembered by all as the guy who never stopped talking at club nights. He came to many over twenty plus years and usually with me. He always volunteered help and was good natured with a large Heart of Gold. His cremation service will take place at Vinters Park Crematorium Maidstone on the 29th July 2008 at 11am. There will be refreshments after at the Brasserie in Aylesford village. It is hoped that there maybe some sort of TR cavalcade to the service leaving from close to Dave's house in the British legion village assembly circa 10.30am.The family have expressed if any feel it appropriate then donations to the British legion village.

TR Register International Show
I have no report of the proceedings at Malvern, however I do know that Kent Group member Kelvin Barber won 3rd place with his TR4 in the Pride Of Ownership Competition.
Well done, Kelvin..
Senlac Classic Car Show Sunday 6th July 2008
Black cloudy skies and lots of wind heralded the start of the above event at Bodiam, Sussex. 9 Kent TRs made the journey and parked on well cut grass, even better then my lawn, but thats by the by. It was too windy to cook bacon or burgers on the gas cookers so we relied on the food stalls which did a brisk trade all day. There must have been 200+ classics on show but they soon started to make their way home as by 1pm the rains came and together with high winds made it uncomfortable for all, so we set off home with the realisation that after all this is July and summertime.
Letter to Kent Group from Bernie Norman
The following letter has been received by Paul Loveridge from Kent Group member, Bernie Norman:
" Dear Paul, Would you please be so kind as to convey my sincere thanks to all the members of the Kent Group who sent get well cards and telephone calls. I really do feel with all the kindness shown I must recover my health ".
For those who did not known, last year Bernie was enroute to Malvern when he had to abandon his TR8 in the floods, and due to having to wade through effluent he became ill. He has had numerous hospital visits , including an unsuccessful operation. Although his illness still has not been diagnosed he is now back at home fattening up after loss of weight. If you wish to give Bernie a get well call he is on 01883-623901. but just in case Get Well Soon, Bernie from all in Kent Group..
AUTOGLYM at Brands Hatch 29th June 2008
What a day! Weather was brilliant as was the racing. We met at the moat just after 08:00 and arrived at Brands Hatch nice and early. Having picked a suitable space on the South Bank it was up with the gazebo and on with the frying pans and kettles. Eight cars from Kent Group were present along with a large contingent from the Essex TR Group and another load from the East Saxons. An excellent turnout from the Register supporting a very exciting days racing. There were several stalls plying their trade as usual and for those who booked tickets through me an added bonus of free Autoglym products, full size shampoo and polish for all. We decamped just before 18:00 and had a good journey back. Feedback from those present was excellent. Gary Shaw.

Day Trip on the Minature Railway
12 club members turned up at the J9 M20 rv point on a bright yet blustery Sunday morning ( June 22nd ) and set off for New Romney where secure parking had been arranged. We all boarded an enclosed carraige aboard the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway train and set off for Dungeness amid steam and soot. It was a great trip through peoples backyards and open countryside, so for the return we decided to use and open carraige. We dismounted at New Romney frozen stiff and so a hot fish & chip meal at the Pilot public house, Lydd on Sea went down a treat. We all had a great time and look forward to a repeat next year.
All in a line at New Romney Rail Stn
All aboard the Dungeness Express

Wrotham Steam Fair and Car Show Sun 8th June 2008
Sunday 8th June was a very sunny affair for the dozen or so club cars and members who attended the Wrotham Steam and Classic Fair. Once the 2 gazebos (yes, 2 gazebos ) had been erected on went the gas cookers and the bacon was soon sizzling. The nice thing about Wrotham ( my opinion ) is that there are a great number of stalls flogging auto jumble, so it wasn’t long before we hit the stalls. Thanks to Richard Norman for organising the tickets and entry.

The Faversham Classic Car Show
Sundays trip to Faversham Classic Car Show on Sunday 18th May was a good day, surprisingly the rain held off and the sun shone, although a little chilly in the shade. Seven well turned out Triumphs were exhibited by the club in the Town Centre. On arrival we all had the usual bacon rolls or breakfasts in a local café.(very nice too) after which we toured the town and looked at many other exhibits some very good and some not so good. Some of our members toured the Local Brewery, others found the Gunpowder Mill and some enjoyed the Jazz Group playing on the market place. All in all a very enjoyable day, only marred by Les's stubborn car that refused to start after the show and had to be recovered home. (I am sure Les will tell you all about it.)

Arriva Fun Day at Kent Showground
It was a beautifully warm day to day with just enough breeze to prevent you from boiling over at the Arriva Fun Day. Although the internet details of the show didn't really materialise there was enough to interest the dozen or so TRs' which turned out. New members Keith Hoffman and Mike Cutmore turned up in their TR5 and TR7 respectively and as can be seen from the photos below it was a very sociable day out.
We were the largest marque on show.
Bacon and sausages were order of the day ( plus brown sauce )
