Northumbrian Weekend
Friday 29th August – Monday 1st September
Proposed Itinerary
FRIDAY
Leave from Barney’s Café on A18, just south of M180, at 10.30am. Take direct route up the A1 to Alnwick, stopping for lunch en route, arriving late afternoon at the Schooner Hotel, Alnwick.
The hotel has 80 bedrooms, a large secure car park and the tariff for Bed and Breakfast for three nights is £75.00 per room, per night.
For two or more consecutive nights, Bed, Breakfast and Evening meal is £90.00 per room, per night. The Hotel Manager has offered a better deal on these prices, depending on numbers.
SATURDAY
Leave hotel at approximately 9.30am for Lindisfarne and Holy Island Castle, a pint and lunch and then maybe a visit to Berwick on Tweed or Heatherslaw Mill.
SUNDAY
Leave hotel at approximately 9.30am for Seahouses. If the weather is good, suggest a two hour boat trip around the Farne Islands, followed by lunch and another pint, visiting Bamburgh Castle in the afternoon. There are some pretty walks in the area if anyone has got any energy left.
MONDAY
Leave at leisure. If anyone wants to take a detour on the way home, there is a lovely drive through Kielder Forest Park, which Dave will lead.
