TR Action 228
We had a good run out on the ‘Rose of the Shires’ rally organized by the Northants MG Owners Club. The only disappointing thing was Terry’s dyno packing up necessitating emergency roadside repairs whilst all those MGs drove past – the shame. The Morgan factory tour was interesting although to my knowledge, nobody put their name on the waiting list. I understand the Bunyan Run was well attended and the weather held off all day although it has not been too great recently and we’ve not had that many days out yet. Could be different by the time you read this as it’s now July and we have Le Mans and The International amongst other things.
A few new events have been added to the diary, I really don’t think there are enough days in the calendar at this rate.
Lots of new faces this year, it’s good to see so many cars being used. Neville made it to the monthly meet in his TR2 and Mark joined us in his TR3A - we nearly had a complete TR line-up that month with all the other regulars, Phil joined us at the last meet with his one week old purchase and he’s already getting stuck in with the usual game of “find the bodge”.
Usual request again: if you haven’t heard from me recently then drop me a line to find out what’s happening or even just to say hello.
That’s it for this month; hope to see you soon.

Following last months blurb, I am pleased to report that no apology is necessary as Nene Valley gave Camb Followers and Lea Valley a sound thrashing at the annual games, 6 of the best - trousers down I believe. In all honesty I couldn’t tell you the scores but we were declared winners and presented with a bottle of cider. Our thanks to Camb Followers for organising the event and making it a great day out.
We had a good run out on the FBHVC Drive it Day although it was seriously chilly. We started out with five brave cars but didn’t quite finish the planned route due to a lack of time and enthusiasm, as noted - it was cold, but we did find a rather nice pub in Kimbolton for lunch.
We are now nearly halfway through the year and it seems to be getting busier and busier. June and July include several rallies, the weekend away and Le Mans (if you are going). If you haven’t heard from me recently with an update then please drop me a line as my contact details could be wrong and some I haven’t managed to contact yet.
Several of us have booked for the Norwich Union rally in October and the chosen start point is Cheltenham, hope to see you there.
Plenty to do in the meantime, let us know what you’re up to?

Hello again.
Always difficult writing these Social Scenes so far in advance of the publication. The events calendar is coming on, by the time you read this Nene Valley will have whipped Camb Followers and Lea Valley again at the annual games evening - if we haven't then I'll apologise next issue and beg forgiveness. Only joking, it's a social event and a good excuse to get together and take the cars for a blast.
I have just received my confirmation for the Rose of the Shires run from Sywell Aerodrome in Northampton, many other members from NVG have already signed up so get your application in soon if you want to take part. Also, same applies for the Bunyan Run on the 1st June, it's not that far away really.
When Danny is not on holiday, he’s busy trying to sort out the Morgan factory tour. Date looks to be May sometime and numbers will need to be confirmed. Please mail me for details
The web site is coming on and further to my request for volunteers to look after this aspect in TR Action 225, I have been literally inundated by Mr and Mrs Nobody and all of their friends. If you would like to be involved then let me know, don't be shy, don't think 'someone else will do it', I would rather have too many interested people than no-one at all. Remember, you get out what you put in.
That's it for this edition as I’m also writing the ‘Introduction to Group Leader’ but before I go, don't forget the FBHVC drive it day on the 20th April and Rushden Cavalcade at the beginning of May.

Surprise, surprise - Nene Valley here.
A recent change to tell you about; Brian Sanders stood down from Group Leader in December as he has other commitments, and I found out I am now Leader thanks to a message on my answer machine. A democratic vote obviously took place as everyone at the group congratulated me on my new position whilst laughing and asking how I fell for that one. Rule One - never miss a group meeting. Joking aside, I will be taking my new role seriously and the whole of NVG would like to thank Brian for the work he did over the last several years, hopefully he now has time to get his rear end sorted - the TR that is.
All regulars at the Nene Valley Group meetings are now aware of these changes, and this is more for those who do not attend on a regular basis; which brings me on to another subject. I am sure there are many of you out there who do not attend the monthly meetings for one reason or another, please tell us what NVG could do to change this?
As a group we have regular get-togethers, outings, weekends away and we have been busy organising events for 2008. Normally it tends to be regulars who attend the monthly meetings so I am summarising a list for those who don’t attend the monthlies but would still like to join in, mail or call me for details.
Generally, one person has suggested and organised their own event and we try to get out at least once a month, weather permitting. In saying that, we still went to Chester last year in the pouring rain which was an enjoyable though eventful trip. Hopefully, there should be a picture attached from Ironbridge on the way back. If you have somewhere you always wanted to go then please put your ideas forward and let’s make arrangements.
There is group web space available within the TR Register web site; www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/nenevalley (don't bother looking immediately as it doesn't exist yet), I want to utilise this resource more effectively in future to update all NVG members of what's happening whether you attend the monthly meetings or not. If anyone is interested in sorting this or wants a place to practice their IT skills, please put your hand up and we can speak to the Register.
At the time of writing we have just had our Christmas do (in January) and we’re looking forward to some warmer weather thereafter. It would be great to see more members in 2008; existing, old and new. Don't forget, this is your group and what happens is up to you.
Hope to hear from you soon.
