TR Action 238

Gosh, how time flies. It does not seem five minutes since we went to the Lakes for the annual tour and now another year has passed and the 33rd Lakes tour has just taken place.

So what else has the group been doing? Well not a lot really and for that I must take the blame. However, group support this year has been decidedly on the low side with attendance mainly down to the hard core members. So for next year a much bigger effort needs to be made to get all of those people who should or could attend our group meeting to join in. To this end I will be producing a mail shot to all those on our local register, asking them to bring themselves and their car along to a major S&W meeting in the Spring.

Meanwhile, the end of the TR year approaches and it has been decided to hold our Indian Christmas dinner on Saturday 12th December at the Navigation Inn in Alrewas. (Formerly the Old Boat for those who know of it by that name). Anyone who is interested in going please contact either myself or Julia Dumelow. A table of twenty has been booked but more are welcome.

Next year therefore promises to be a very busy year for S&W. It will kick off very early as January sees the celebration of 40 years of the TR Register at Hopcroft’s Holt pub in Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire. Several S&W members will of course be going but sadly none of us were actually there at that first inaugural meeting of the TR Register; S&W being formed in February 1976 although Chris and I first joined the Register the previous August.

As befits a 40th anniversary, 2010 may well have an excess of events for members to choose from as next year also sees the TR Register hosting the European meeting at Harrogate in September. In between these two events there will be a host of minor club and group events plus of course the International weekend which will once again be held at Malvern.  Externally there are the two big events held at Goodwood in July and September plus the highly acclaimed Silverstone Classic and of course the extraordinary Classic Le Mans, also in July, where I am hoping to enter a couple of cars under the now infamous ‘Michael Cotti Racing’ banner.
