Hi All TVG members,
This email is to say hello to all members of the Thames
Valley Group of the TR Register. As Geoff Keeble has informed everyone by email,
he has passed over the role of Group Leader to me, thus I am the new focal point
for TVG. I thank Geoff for his contribution over the last 5 years and I hope I
can continue the good work he achieved in keeping the members and their partners
involved, which is so important for the group activities to develop for
everyone's enjoyment.
My involvement with TRs started when I purchased
aTR3A in 1969 that badly needed some TLC. Since then I built a TR4 from bits and
then owned a TR5 in the 70s. From the late 70s, I went abroad to work right up
to 2006 when I retired and joined TVG. During my time working around the world I
made numerous trips to the UK and found time to build a Triumph powered Marlin
Roadster and restored a blue TR6 from 1989 to 2000. Now I drive a Pimento red
TR6 mechanically restored from my blue TR6 destroyed in a bizarre accident while
stored in my garage in 2004.
I hope to meet most of you eventually at our
meetings at The Hatch, Abinger Common ( 2nd Weds) or on the last Sundays of the
month meetings. Most recently the Sunday meetings have taken place at the
Onslow Arms, West Clandon, but due to closure for refurbishmentfrom this
weekend, I have arranged for us to meet on the 30th May at the Queens Head, East
Clandon. We will see how it goes, as with most pubs the weekend is their most
profitable time and may be busy.
The easiest way to access the Queens
Head is from the A246 Epsom Road ( which runs from Guildford to East Horsley) at
the junction for The Street East Clandon situated midway between West Clandon
junction (A247) and West Horsley junction. See the map using the link
below.
