Wing Commander Wallis visit - 16/10/11
If you have not encountered this amazing 95 year old engineering genius and raconteur, visit http://www.kenwallisautogyro.com/ Just his qualifications should tempt you along to listen to him: Wing Commander K H Wallis MBE, DEng (hc), Ph.D (hc), CEng, FRAeS, FSETP, FlnsTA(hc), RAF (Ret'd)
As before, Ken does not charge us for these visits (usually with a flying demo, weather allowing) but asks instead for a donation to his favoured charities, RAFA and Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum. To this end I am recommending a contribution of £3/head please - or say £5/couple. This should raise over £100 which Ken has been absolutely delighted by in the past. I believe it is one reason why he agreed to our revisit.
Details of the visit are:
FOR FOOD: 12.00 at The Mill. Norwich Road Yaxham Norfolk NR19 1RP. Main course Sunday Lunch £8.50 per head. Starters & Desserts are available at an extra cost
NO FOOD: 1.30pm at The Mill Norwich Road Yaxham
Attendance is limited to 20 people on a first come etc basis. Please try to come along in your TR if possible. Ken loves to see our classic cars lined up on his paddock/airfield. He sometimes takes photos of the line-up from the air as he passes over them.
So, if you want to go along please email me at solotr@yahoo.co.uk or call 07769676473

Tuesday 8th November
We are invited to join Abbot & Stour group's next club night, 8th November, when they have Brian Page coming along who is going to give a presentation about the 1940’s re-enactments that he attends. This will be A & S groups last presentation for this year so to make it a more enjoyable evening – why not go along the more the merrier!.
I’m sure it will be an enlightening and fun evening – Brian has plenty to speak about along with interesting and amusing anecdotes. See the entry below, taken from the A & S website:-
Tuesday 8th November

NOTE: earlier start time
There will be a small charge of £3 per head for this presentation which will be donated to The Royal British Legion, on behalf of Brian Page. This evening's talk is about the ever growing 1940s Re-enactment scene and some of the events. Why I (Brian Page) do it and the charity fund raising involved. A little bit about 11/11 - Remembrance Day. ...and what previous generations had to endure. Also perhaps a bit of a singsong at the end and a little quiz ??
The presentation will start around 8pm – however, would all club members arrive by 7:30pm so that we can cover off any club business.
All the best and look forward to seeing you all,
Peter E Dadson
