My first two cars were both Triumphs, the first a 1968 Triumph 1300, and the second a 1970 Spitfire. I was very satisfied with both the cars but the TR6 was the car I really wanted to own but couldn't afford. The TR6 was a full blooded sports car a kind of poor mans E type Jaguar and I would have loved one despite the poor reputation of the fuel injection at the time.
After 30 years of sensible cars I found myself being drawn to the TR6 and Healeys whenever I went to a classic car show. I swatted up and took the plunge in 2005.and bought NRW 392M a 1973 TR6 in Sapphire blue with chrome wires. I wanted a car that needed some work but not a basket case.
So far I have overhauled the engine and clutch, added an overdrive to the gearbox, retrimmed the interior, improved the panel gaps repaired and resprayed minor bodywork, sorted the front brakes and shockers and spent money on the injection system. Not to mention small jobs. Seems almost as much work as a basket case but I have enjoyed it.
Its now back on the road and time to enjoy driving it.
